How to Pay on Temu in Europe: Cards, Klarna, Bizum and More

Temu accepts standard debit/credit cards everywhere in Europe, plus a handful of country-specific methods layered on top — Klarna in Germany, Bizum in Spain, iDEAL in the Netherlands. What’s available depends entirely on which country your Temu account is set to, not where you’re physically ordering from.

The local methods, explained

Klarna (Germany). Lets German shoppers split payment or delay it a few weeks. Popular for larger Temu Germany orders where buyers want to see the item land before the charge clears.

Bizum (Spain). A phone-number-linked instant transfer system most Spanish banks support natively — faster than entering card details and increasingly the default choice for Temu Spain shoppers under 40.

iDEAL (Netherlands). The dominant online payment method in the country by a wide margin; Dutch shoppers use it for the vast majority of online purchases, Temu included, because it links directly to their bank rather than routing through a card network.

Giropay (Germany). A bank-transfer alternative to Klarna, useful for shoppers who’d rather not use a “buy now, pay later” product but still want to skip entering card numbers.

Why your card might get declined

Three things cause most Temu payment failures we’ve seen reported: the billing address on file doesn’t match the card’s registered address, the bank’s fraud filter flags a first-time merchant (common on a first Temu order), or a virtual/prepaid card that some banks restrict from overseas-merchant transactions. Switching to PayPal or a local method (Klarna, Bizum, iDEAL) usually clears the block immediately, since those route through a different verification path than a raw card charge.

Does payment method affect your discount?

No. The coupon and free-shipping threshold apply the same regardless of how you pay — card, PayPal, or a local method all trigger the same checkout discount as long as the order total clears the minimum spend. Does Temu accept Apple Pay? Yes, in the UK and most markets with Apple Pay support at the bank level. It shows as a checkout option automatically if your device and card support it.

Can I use a virtual card on Temu? Sometimes — it depends on your bank’s policy toward overseas or first-time merchants. If a virtual card fails, PayPal is the most reliable fallback across every market we track.

Is Bizum only for Spanish bank accounts? Yes, Bizum requires a Spanish bank account and mobile number linked to it — it’s not available to Temu shoppers ordering from outside Spain.

Does Klarna charge extra fees on Temu orders? Not from Temu’s side. Klarna’s own terms (installment or delayed-payment fees) depend on the plan you select at checkout, so read that screen before confirming.
